In its early years, Corinthia opted in favour of being a full owner of its hotels, a model that required significant capital investment. Over time, the Group embraced joint ventures, a strategy that enabled participation in a greater number of projects. This approach created the flexibility to reinvest surplus funds in acquiring additional properties, expanding the presence of the Corinthia brand, and enhancing profitability. Beyond ownership and joint ventures, the Group also recognised the value of providing hotel management services to third parties — a model that further extended Corinthia’s global reach while leveraging its expertise in hospitality.

Corinthia has  always taken responsibility to manage the construction of its owned properties, and has, over the years set up QP, which provides the comprehensive services of architecture, interior design, structural engineering, quantity surveying and other related services. Today QP is a separate company with the mission to develop internationally. 

Besides constructing its own hotels, establishing its own standards and ethos which make the Corinthia Brand, Corinthia has likewise set up a separate company for the management of hotels through CHL, under the Corinthia brand. This service of hotel management was initially necessary for Corinthia’s own properties, belonging to IHI, but over the last 20 years Corinthia  offered this service to third party hotel owners. 

Today Corinthia’s brand is well appreciated by international developers who are in turn approaching Corinthia to manage their properties. Quite uniquely, Corinthia  developed four independent activities, all feeding and supporting each other, namely:

  Property ownership through IHI; 

  Development through CREV Limited; 

*Project design, engineering and management services through QP; 

*Hotel Management through CHL, via a couple of brands, Corinthia and Verdi.

Corinthia’s portfolio has developed and spread its footprint globally. It is definitely interesting to have a cursory look at this portfolio, as sub-grouped under ownership, management and lease.

BUDAPEST Corinthia Hotel, former Grand Hotel Royal, 414 Rooms. 100% holding. One of the most luxurious, versatile and sought-after hotels in the city, the Corinthia Hotel Budapest is a landmark, deluxe property, originating in the grand architectural epoch of the late 19th century. The hotel was acquired by IHI as a vacant building in April 2000 and subsequently demolished to make way for a 60,000m2 reconstruction that retained the historic façade and the 19th century classical ballroom and grand staircase.The hotel was officially opened in April 2003.

LISBON Corinthia Hotel, 518 Rooms . 100% holding. The high-rise Corinthia Lisbon was acquired by IHI in August 2001 and subsequently shut down in February 2003 to make way for a thorough refurbishment and upgrade to five-star status. The renovated hotel was re-opened in May 2004. The hotel is fully equipped for meetings, conference and incentive markets. Its 3,000m2 allocated to state-of-the-art meeting facilities make it the largest conference hotel in Lisbon, able to handle 1,400 delegates at any given time, supported by a 24th floor Sky Lounge, affording spectacular views of Lisbon, complete with boardrooms, private check-in, dining and business facilities. The hotel has a 2,000m2 spa and fitness facility – the largest in the city.
