Team building activities are undoubtedly a source of enjoyment and a wealth of advantages for employees at every level and in various roles within a company. By improving communication, these activities create a more open and collaborative environment, which is essential to express ideas freely, regardless of one’s position. Furthermore, they promote trust and camaraderie, allowing employees to build stronger relationships and a deeper understanding of each other, which can improve morale and job satisfaction. Moreover, they stimulate problem-solving abilities, as diverse groups confront challenges together, leading to innovative solutions. Ultimately, they result in a more cohesive and efficient workforce, which has a positive impact on the entire organisation.

Conscious of all this, IHI, CPHCL, and CHL within the Malta corporate office joined hands to organise a very successful Team Building programme on 24 January.
Fifty-one staff members from all grades enthusiastically participated in a full day of activities, interspersed with short breaks for breakfast and lunch. Naturally, the delicious food was provided by Corinthia Caterers.

Some healthy food to boost the participants!
The venue, Limestone Heritage in Siggiewi, Malta, proved to be the perfect setting for the occasion, offering a beautiful backdrop for team bonding and engagement.
Simon Naudi, CEO of IHI, and Jean Pierre Schembri, CEO of CPHCL, warmly welcomed all the participants, reminding everyone that, regardless of the Corinthia company they worked with, they were all Corinthians and part of one family.

The concept of a team-building program originated from a growing recognition of the importance of collaboration and camaraderie in the workplace. This initiative was entrusted to JUGS, a firm with over 20 years of experience in facilitating team development and organising conferences.
During the event, no participant could remain idle. Everyone was eager to join in, embracing the lively teamwork spirit. The activities were diverse and engaging, catering to varying skill levels. Participants were encouraged to immerse themselves in a range of quick, energising challenges.

Teams rotated through a series of 10-minute activities, maintaining an upbeat atmosphere and allowing everyone to reconsider their approach to work. Each activity was meticulously designed to foster cooperation, communication, and mutual trust among team members, ensuring an enriching experience for all.

Competition was quite intense, and no one allowed their competitors any advantageous edge, though there were many laughs, teasing, and excitement.

To encourage new bonding and prevent pre-established cliques, the organisers ensured that no one teamed up with close colleagues. Team members were chosen randomly after a mass dance and a team-matching event. This approach fostered a greater adaptation challenge and brought together unprepared joint energies.

Although the events were low-risk, the organisers made sure there was a first aider and a defibrillator on site. A list of safety procedures, including dos and don’ts, was also explained.Funny experiences abounded.

Under cover!
It’s definitely hilarious to see people in high positions wearing pyjamas or running with a pushchair and a baby doll. It’s a stark contrast to their office personas!
The positive comments I received from various participants demonstrate that the entire event was a success. Fun, excitement, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging to the Corinthia family were excellent ingredients for a winning recipe. Will this become an annual event? Many expressed a desire to see it develop into a tradition, naturally with different challenges each time.

It was evident that some colleagues naturally took on leadership roles, while others preferred to follow. Although there were winners and awards, there were no losers. Camaraderie was the dominant theme throughout the event!
